Do you guarantee your custom cabinets?
We have a limited lifetime warranty on all our cabinetry. This covers cabinet box construction and defects in finishes (other than normal wear and tear). We also adjust hinges and drawers when needed.

Do you have a design fee?
We offer an initial consultation that includes highly detailed 3-D renderings that allow you to envision what your project will offer. These renderings are based on the information you provide. An initial estimate will be given at this point giving you a broad range of what your project could cost. After the initial consultation, you will have the chance to decide if you want to continue working with our firm. If you choose to work with us, a design retainer will be established based on your initial estimate. This fee will allow you full access to your renderings, floor plans, electrical and plumbing plans, and any additional changes you wish to make. The fee will be deducted from your final contract.

Who installs your custom cabinets?
We have our own experienced installers who must perform to our exceptional standards.

How are your custom cabinets constructed?
We have several options. Our cabinet boxes are constructed with plywood, industrial grade furniture board, or wheat board (a green alternative). All are very low in formaldehyde and most of our manufacturers offer formaldehyde free options. Door, frames and all exterior surfaces are constructed of a variety of hardwoods.

Why do I need a NKBA kitchen and bath designer?
NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association) trained designers have the experience and knowledge to create a space that is functional AND beautiful. Our designers continue to train on a regular basis and understand building code requirements, as well as trends in the interior design industry. Our chief designer, Leah Parks, has passed a rigorous training and exam process to become an Associate Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer. Our other designers are in various stages of the certification process.

Do you do remodeling projects?
Yes. We will oversee the complete remodeling project, working with a select group of licensed contractors and licensed trades people. We are also happy to work with contractors you choose. Either way, we will work to assure you have a “worry free” project.

What is the difference between custom cabinets purchased from Distinctive Cabinetry of the High Country and custom cabinets from “shop built” companies?
At first glance many cabinets appear basically the same, but the differences in custom cabinets manufactured in a factory setting are remarkable. First, our cabinetry is constructed just for you; each cabinet is unique to your project. Next, every step of the construction process is completed in a controlled environment. This means the finish is “furniture smooth” and is baked on using a multi-step process. Because of purchasing power, our manufacturers can demand consistency and quality in materials that a small shop can not.
